The presiding deity, Lord Vi\u1e63\u1e47u, manifests here as Vijay\u0101sana Perum\u0101\u1e37<\/strong>, seated in a majestic posture that signifies divine victory and grace.<\/p>\n According to the pur\u0101\u1e47ic tradition, a P\u0101\u1e47\u1e0dya king named Varagu\u1e47a once ruled the region with righteousness and devotion. However, due to karmic consequences\u2014either from a previous birth or from unintended actions\u2014he became burdened with grave sins, often described as brahmahaty\u0101 do\u1e63a<\/em>. Despite his power and wealth, the king suffered from deep inner turmoil and spiritual unrest, realizing that worldly means could not relieve his condition.<\/p>\n In search of redemption, Varagu\u1e47a sought guidance from sages, who directed him to the sacred banks of the T\u0101miraparani. There, he undertook intense penance, dedicating himself to the worship of Lord Vi\u1e63\u1e47u. Renouncing royal comforts, he engaged in continuous recitation of divine names, performed yaj\u00f1as and homas, observed fasting, and practiced unwavering devotion with complete surrender.<\/p>\n Moved by the king\u2019s sincerity and repentance, Lord Vi\u1e63\u1e47u appeared before him at this very site in the form of Vijay\u0101sana Perum\u0101\u1e37. Seated in a regal and serene posture, the Lord revealed that true devotion and repentance have the power to destroy even the gravest sins. By His grace, the king\u2019s karmic burdens were completely removed, and he attained purity of mind and spirit.<\/p>\n Blessed by the Lord, Varagu\u1e47a ultimately received mok\u1e63a, attaining liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
